These people have all had great experiences with our methods of teaching, so we thought we should share their comments with you...

Eleanor
Great lessons, I thoroughly enjoyed them. You took my stroke apart, taught me balancing, breathing, drills, reconstructed my stroke, then pushed me to achieve more than I could do before. Thanks heaps! Highly recommended - even for oldies like me!

Lara
Hi Haydn, Just wanted to say the lesson this morning was awesome! Learnt heaps!! so good! cheers, til next tuesday

Fran
Hi Haydn, I would like to thank you for your guidance and teaching. Sadly due to a move of suburb, I will not be able to continue at the Tepid Baths for a further block (not by choice!) but have invested in a pass to my local pool to continue to practise the techniques I have learnt. Thank you very much. I feel so much more confident in the water, and havent given myself an asthma attack due to lack of breathing for a while now!! Bring on the Triathlon on Mar 4th :o)

Amy
Hi, Just wanted to say a huge ups! I used to swim years ago and havent had the confidence to learn again until my friend told me about the blast she had during her women only lessons at Tepid, I have now joined and cant wait for my first lesson again tomorrow which im certain I will enjoy just as much as my friend has, I also called your contact above who was extremely helpful and made me feel at ease about getting back in the water - so great job! Thanks

Soana

Hey Haydn, just a quick note to say a big Thanks. When I started the lessons, I could not leave the side of a swimming pool without freaking out and whenever I entered the triathalons I never did the swim. I came close once but freaked out, but now that does not happen. I could

never swim a meter without losing my breath, so thanks.  ;)

Helen
As the worst in my group by far I have achieved more in 3 weeks than I could have imagined. Mark is so good at making you feel good about even the smallest achievement it makes my day and I actually look forward to each lesson amazing I hate water. He also makes you feel that your goals are achievable. Thank you so much

Morning Haydn. I competed in the Half Ironman at the weekend in the relay and did the swim and surprised myself by doing this in 47 minutes. It is the longest distance I have done in the sea.  What I wanted to say is that I have very much improved in confidence and knowledge through doing your lessons on sea swimming. Thanks for having the right instructors who gave me these. I would certainly recommend these lessons to others.

Laura
Thanks so much for all your help&&I was really nervous about joining a squad when I signed up for the She women sessions at the Teps 6 months ago but you all made it a friendly, non-threatening experience and I feel like my swimming has improved heaps! Next year I will be looking forward to lining up for the IMNZ swim rather than wondering if Im actually going to make the cut off&.or survive the swim more to the point!!

I just wanted to let you know how impressed I am with Mark Finch. He is an excellent coach, motivational, personable and a great communicator. In fact I am so impressed I have just booked in for block 2 at Lagoon next year.

Janet
Hi Spencer,
Thanks for your encouragement.  I am loving swimming.  I have only improved because of the amazingly high calibre of the coaching team!!

Kirst
Just wanted to say again, that today's class was great!  I loved being able to do the 100m intervals today without needing fins, and I think the other "slower" girls felt the same.  That is exactly what we need to be able to improve.  It also resulted in me swimming the most lengths I have ever done all on my own power (no fins).

Orini
Just a note of thanks & appreciation. Swam complete 300m at yesterdays She womanstri. Did it in 6.00min. More lessons should pull a couple of mins off that time. I can still be ambitious @ 59. Thanks for the help...

Erica
I would like to say a really big thank you to the team. I have found a my old love for swimming again thanks to your team. The lessons were fun, and I have learnt a lot. In November I under went minor surgery and at one point I thought I would not be able to finish with a good time in the She Triathlon. I kept coming along to the lessons and the team encouragement made me believe that this was still achievable. Now having completed the Triathlon I plan to do a lot more. Thanks again and I look forward to the next block and the betting my boss at a swimming race with my new found swimming skills

Sarah
Hi Haydn, Just really wanted to thank you again (well, Brett really!) for a great lesson this morning.
To be honest I was a skeptic... 'I don't need lesson's... I know how to swim..." YEAH RIGHT! Talk about teaching an old dog new tricks! I now have to undo 20 years of bad swimming and master a real technique!
I'm absolutely buggered today at work, but it's such a good feeling - nicely exhausted after some decent exercise!
I'm hooked - and would love to keep coming along to the lessons.. is this cool?? Can I join in the Tuesday morning classes in the New Year??? Let me know how much I owe you and I'll send you a cheque! I'll also give the sea lessons a go too! That will be a test!
Thanks again Haydn - I'm going to update my diary on the website now, and mention all good things! Do you mind if I put a link to your site??
Have a great Xmas, and a well earned break!

The swimming lessons have been of tremendous help to me and in fact I intend to keep swimming after our Race.  I have really appreciated your very professional and encouraging manner.

I swam at Parnell today and using what you taugth me - well the bits I could remember anyway - I just kept going like an eveready battery!!
I breathed through my diaphragm and didn't get puffed at all, I breathed every 2nd stroke, seems to work for me rather than three, gliding, reaching, rotating, check heads right down, check breathing... oh I'm at the end again.  Did 10 lengths without even a worry - of a 60m pool !! Then had a rest.
Thank you so much.

Thank you very much for the offer of ongoing training.  I am not able to take it up at present, but have a longer swim in my sights and will be back. It's also nice to have an opportunity to thank you and your valiant co-trainers for the efforts you are putting in on our behalf.  Thanks to you I have chopped 5 minutes off my pool time for 1000m, which may not be much by your standards but feels great from where I stand.

I just wanted to let you know I did the Rangitoto swim on Sunday. I had your words (and that of your off-sider - don't know his name) ringing in my ears about navigation for quite a lot of the way. The Special K sea swimming lessons definitely helped me and I think really made a difference.  So what I wanted to say was thank you very much for your input. It was much appreciated.
Regards

It's a year now since I first went to get a lesson on how to do the crawl, how to do the breathing (face in water? you're joking!). Absolutely petrified - and the terror remained for quite some months really - the panic of getting out of breath, of not having access to air. It was undoubtedly your advice and coaching that got me past that hump. So I'm truly grateful for such excellent teaching - I now have a whole new fun activity which I enjoy thoroughly.
Thanks Haydn - enormously.

I really enjoyed the class today. Never thought I would have much fun with swimming. It was rather coming up with watching some triathlon friends having fun with short distance ones while I was bored with running. So I bought a bike, loved it right away. And now the swimming is not even the torture I thought it would : )...

Marion
I really recommend these lessons for everyone.  Even if you have swum alot in the past there is still room for improvement.
Anything that results in a 30 second decrease in my 100 metre time must be worthwhile. Great motivation from excellent coaches.
Thank you so  much Haydn and Brett.

Heidi
Also just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the lessons in particular last Saturday's sea lesson - that was my biggest hurdle being over my head in the sea and I was buzzing afterwards. So my thanks and appreciation to you and the team for your efforts!

Suzanne (the slow but determined oldie from 11.00 on Tuesdays
Your help has been great as before the Tuesday 11.00 sessions, I wouldn't even go in the sea (even with a boat and a bach right on the water at Waiheke).  You sort of left me with no choice which is obviously what I needed.  I have spent the last 5-6 years worrying about what
is underneath me.  Still won't let my legs dangle tho (you just never know what is under there - big teeth).  My two babies (aged 29 and 25) and husband are proud of me and say my swimming is improving (they dont see the drills thank goodness).  I intend to keep up the swimming now as I enjoy it.  Perhaps even practice the drills!!!
Anyway Hayden, thanks again, your patience with the girls is great and I have enjoyed and appreciated the swims although sometimes cross with myself.
